Split bills without a bank account

A bill-splitting app only needs to know what was spent — not access to your bank. Duesy never asks for bank logins, card numbers or Plaid. You log the expense, it tracks who owes who, and you settle up however you already pay. Free and private.

What Duesy needs — and what it never touches

What it uses

  • The amounts you type in (or scan from a receipt).
  • Who paid and who's in the group.
  • Your name and email for the account.

What it never touches

  • No bank logins — no Plaid, no account linking.
  • No card or bank numbers — it never sees them.
  • It never holds or moves your money.

How settling up works without bank access

1

Log the expense

Type the amount and who paid, or scan a receipt. No connecting anything.

2

See who owes who

Duesy nets it out live and shows the fewest payments to settle.

3

Pay your way

Send money however you already do — then mark it settled. Duesy just keeps the record.

Why "no bank linking" is a feature, not a limitation

Plenty of money apps ask you to connect your bank — usually through a third party like Plaid — so they can import transactions. That's convenient, but it means handing banking credentials to another company, and it's a hard no for a lot of people. Splitting a dinner or rent doesn't need any of that.

Duesy is built the other way around: you record what was spent, and it does the fair-share math. Because there's nothing connected, there are no banking credentials to store or leak, and it works for everyone in the group regardless of which bank or country they use. See exactly what Duesy stores and never touches, or read the simple guide to how to split bills.

It's also genuinely free — splitting, groups, who-owes-who and settling up have no daily limit, in any currency. Start with a quick calculator or open the app.

Questions

Can you split bills without linking a bank account?

Yes. A splitter only needs to know what was spent and who paid — not access to your bank. Duesy works entirely on the amounts you enter or scan, and never asks you to link a bank, use Plaid, or enter card numbers.

Why do some apps ask to link your bank?

To auto-import transactions, usually via Plaid — which means giving banking credentials to a third party. Duesy takes the opposite approach: you log expenses yourself, so there's nothing to connect and nothing sensitive to leak.

How do you settle up if the app doesn't move money?

Duesy shows who owes who and the fewest payments. You pay each other however you already do — cash, transfer, any payment app — and mark it settled. Duesy keeps the record; it never holds your money.

Is it safe and free?

Yes. No bank linking means no banking credentials to store. Duesy never sells your data or reads entries to target ads, and the core splitting is free with no daily limit.
